Your front garden must be large enough to permit you to park your car completely on the property.
You must keep your front door at least 4.8m away; you can go up to 6m if there is a garage or entrance to the front.
The maximum parking area should not exceed 2.4m in breadth
At least 10m from any junction should be your property. It shouldn’t be more than 15m away from busy intersections and on primary roads.
It should be at least 1.5m away from street lamps and other street furniture.
It must comply with the applicable visibility standards. These standards vary depending on the type of road.
It is essential to have sufficient drainage in order to drain excess water.
Tree roots shouldn’t be cut.
It is important not to make the ‘climb’ from your house to the road too steep.
Last, but not least, you, as the homeowner, must agree to the kerb being taken down. Tenants cannot, for example, apply on their landlord’s behalf.
